Dante Alighieri Quotes

“The path to paradise begins in hell.”

The Dante Alighieri's quote says that to get to heaven, one must start from hell.

Beyond all religious conceptions, this quote can be seen as a metaphor for success. To succeed, we must pass through a poor and failing state.

Success acquired by our own hands needs favourable situations and correct decisions. However, we cannot have the right choices and good situations immediately at hand.

We will always make wrong decisions that increase our experience and lead us to fail less. Instead, for a favourable situation, we have to make it so. But if it becomes a good situation, it means that previously it was not. It was an unfavourable situation.

So to get to the top, we have to start from the bottom, and if we succeed in this journey, we can consider ourselves satisfied and happy.

“Do not be afraid; our fate cannot be taken from us; it is a gift.”

“My course is set for an uncharted sea.”

“The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.”

“All hope abandon, ye who enter here.”

“Remember tonight... for it is the beginning of always.”

“In the middle of the journey of our life I found myself within a dark woods where the straight way was lost.”

“The more a thing is perfect, the more it feels pleasure and pain.”

“The devil is not as black as he is painted.”

“The wisest are the most annoyed at the loss of time.”

“He who sees a need and waits to be asked for help is as unkind as if he had refused it.”
