Augustus Quotes

“Better a cautious commander, and not a rash one.”

The Augustus quote says it is better to be cautious than hasty.

Caution is prudence in acts and behaviour, and we must be cautious. A cautious person deals with problems much better than an emotional person.

If we are rational and cautious, problems, even if they are tough to solve, will almost always find a solution, even if it takes a long time. If, on the other hand, we are ruled by emotions such as anger, fear or sadness, we will never solve a situation. In addition, haste is entirely wrong because it leads us to fail very easily.

So let us avoid emotional and hasty thinking and approach our lives realistically and rationally. That way, we will be successful.

“I have never been over concerned or obsessed with opinion polls or popularity polls. I think a leader who is, is a weak leader.”

“To seek to keep the established constitution unchanged argues a good citizen and a good man.”

“Young men, listen to an old man to whom old men listened when he was young.”

“Bear with me the hope when I die that the foundations which I have laid for its future government, will stand firm and stable.”

“Wars, both civil and foreign, I undertook throughout the world, on sea and land, and when victorious I spared all citizens who sued for pardon.”

“After this time I surpassed all others in authority, but I had no more power than the others who were also my colleagues in office.”

“Let us be satisfied if we can make people stop short at unkind words.”
