Mao Zedong Quotes

“To read too many books is harmful.”

Mao Zedong's quote says that reading too many books is dangerous and harmful.

This thinking is wrong. Those who command society, the ruling class, prefer to command people with no visions, ideas, or thoughts of their own. They like easily malleable people.

We must first realize that we are being manipulated, after which we must get out of this atmosphere of manipulation.

One way out is to be rational and independent. But also read books, look at information from multiple points of view, and read unedited news. All these actions make us more and more conscious and independent from society.

So we read many books because the more we know, the more independent we are.
