Our list of Marilyn Monroe Quotes
Fear is stupid, so are regrets.
(3 minutes read)
The Marilyn Monroe's quote says that fear is a futile and stupid emotion, as is regretting something or someone.
Fear is an instinctive emotion that has as its goal the survival of the subject from possible danger. There are various intensities of fear.
We should not generalize fear and say that it is unnecessary; some positive actions come from a sense of fear and danger. The problem is that we often experience this feeling in unnecessary situations. Indeed it may even undermine various of our actions or thoughts. Fear is necessary for some instances, but we need to know how to control this emotion and avoid it in inappropriate situations.
Regret is the nostalgic and painful remembrance of lost people or things or missed opportunities.
Unlike fear, regrets are useless. They refer to the past, to situations that we cannot change because they have already happened. When we regret something or someone, we are still mentally attached to a past event or person who is now gone. If we decide to regret that element, we must be aware that the person will not reappear, nor will we resolve a situation that has already ended in the past.
At this point, we should not feel regrets but analyze why that adverse event happened. Thanks to that, we should be able to avoid it in the future and make fewer mistakes.
