Who is Vegeta 101: A Comprehensive Guide to the Prince of Saiyans in Dragon Ball Series

Who is Vegeta

Who is Vegeta: the prince of the Saiyan race and main deuteragonist of Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, and beyond. Learn about his power, personality, rivalry with Goku, and more.

Vegeta: The Saiyan Prince's Journey from Ruthless Antagonist to Earth's Fierce Protector

Vegeta, also known as Vegeta IV, is the prince of the fallen Saiyan race and a central character in the Dragon Ball series. As the eldest son of King Vegeta and husband to Bulma, he becomes the father of Trunks and Bulla. Originally a cold-blooded warrior and merciless killer, Vegeta abandons his role in the Frieza Force and embraces a peaceful life on Earth.

An incredibly strong elite Saiyan warrior, Vegeta is one of nine who escaped Planet Vegeta's destruction by Frieza under the order of the God of Destruction, Beerus. He becomes one of the few full-blooded Saiyan warriors in Dragon Ball Z and allies with Universe 7's most formidable fighters to defend Earth and his family. Constantly driven to surpass Goku, Vegeta's powerful character development has earned him high praise.

Initially introduced as the main antagonist during the Vegeta Saga, his character evolves into an anti-heroic tritagonist throughout the remainder of Dragon Ball Z. By the Majin Buu Saga and into Dragon Ball Super, Vegeta firmly establishes himself as the main deuteragonist/secondary protagonist, second only to Goku.

From a feared Saiyan prince to an Earth protector, Vegeta's transformative journey is marked by his fierce battles, unwavering pride, and his pursuit of ever-greater power. As a legendary Super Saiyan, Vegeta's tale will forever remain etched in the annals of anime history.

Vegeta Physical Appearance

Vegeta, a small yet well-built man of below-average stature, stands at 164 centimeters tall. His hair is black (or dark reddish-brown, depending on the media) and spikes upwards, while a prominent widow's peak defines his hairline. Vegeta, like most Saiyans, possesses stern-looking eyes and was born with a prehensile, brown-furred tail, which was later permanently cut off by Yajirobe.

Transformation Through the Series

Throughout the Dragon Ball series, Vegeta's appearance undergoes several changes. Initially short and lean, he eventually becomes taller and noticeably more muscular. His hair and forehead appear shorter, and his facial features become more distinct and sharply defined, giving him an older appearance in later sagas compared to his debut.

Traditional Saiyan Armor

One of the few Saiyans who continue to wear traditional Saiyan armor in combat, Vegeta often sports a dark blue, full-bodied jumpsuit with white gloves and boots, topped with armor. He customizes his armor to suit his persona, wearing various forms of it throughout the series. As his armor sustains damage during battles, he replaces it with different versions or styles.

Alternate Outfits

Vegeta occasionally dons alternate outfits, such as a pink short-sleeved loose button shirt with "Bad Man" on the back, a white sleeveless undershirt, yellow pants, and green shoes with a brown trim during the Trunks Saga. In the Androids Saga, he wears an updated version of his original armor, without pads. To fight in the World Martial Arts Tournament during the Buu Saga, he sports a sleeveless blue tank top tucked into matching sweatpants, white gloves, and boots.

Color Schemes and Design Changes

In the Dragon Ball Z anime, Vegeta originally appeared with a different color scheme, including red hair and a battle armor with green and burnt orange components. This color scheme reappears as an alternate color for his battle armor in various video games. Throughout the series, Vegeta's outfit undergoes numerous design changes, often to suit specific sagas or environments.

Dragon Ball GT and Super

In Dragon Ball GT, Vegeta adopts Earthling attire, including a crimson tank top, violet gloves, dark blue jeans, violet boots, and a black leather vest. He also crops his hair and temporarily grows a mustache. In Dragon Ball Super, Vegeta returns to wearing his modified battle armor from the Androids/Cell Sagas, with some updates made by Bulma and Whis.

Dragon Ball Heroes

In Dragon Ball Heroes, Vegeta's armor from Resurrection 'F' and the Universe 6 Saga reappears, featuring a Capsule Corp logo in place of Whis' symbol. In later missions, the gray sections of the armor change to a bright blue, similar in color to Vegeta's old bodysuit.

Vegeta: The Journey from Villain to Hero

A Troubled Past and Early Antagonism

Vegeta, the prince of the Saiyan race, is initially introduced as an arrogant, vengeful, and sadistic character. His animosity towards Frieza, who was responsible for the destruction of his home planet Vegeta, causes him to act cruelly and mercilessly. His inflated sense of superiority due to his royal lineage leads him to hold himself above others, taking great pride in his Saiyan heritage. However, his arrogance and Frieza's influence make him even crueler than an ordinary Saiyan.

Vegeta's Tactical Fighting Style and Intelligence

As an incredibly strong elite Saiyan warrior, Vegeta is a tactical fighter who often rushes into battle without hesitation. Yet, his arrogance and rage frequently cause him to underestimate his opponents, leading to his defeat and sometimes death. Despite this, Vegeta is one of the most intelligent and serious characters in the series, with a dry and dark sense of humor.

Respect and Relationships

Despite his personality flaws, Vegeta is capable of respecting others, although he rarely expresses it verbally. His relationships with the Dragon Team improve over time, and he eventually forms a mutual respect with Piccolo. Vegeta also shows some empathy for Gohan's fate and begins to settle down and adjust to life on Earth.

Transformation and Family Life

Initially aggressive and cold-blooded, Vegeta exhibits a ruthless and merciless nature. However, his alliances and experiences on Earth begin to change him, and he starts to show signs of mercy. Falling in love with Bulma and becoming a father to their half-Saiyan children softens Vegeta's heart, and he begins to embrace life as a family man and competitive warrior.

Vegeta's Inner Conflict

Despite his newfound contentment, Vegeta secretly feels ashamed for sacrificing his goal of becoming the strongest warrior in the universe for the sake of his family. He initially shows little interest in avenging his race, but later confronts Frieza and Beerus, making it clear that their actions against the Saiyan race are a significant factor in his refusal to rejoin them.

Obsession and Desperation

In the Majin Buu Saga, Vegeta's concealed feelings resurface as he learns about Goku's temporary return to the real world. His obsession with defeating Goku is reignited, but the constant disruptions during the World Tournament leave him increasingly agitated. Upon witnessing Goku's Super Saiyan 2 transformation, Vegeta feels his own training has been futile. Desperation drives him to allow Babidi's transformation into a Majin, believing his former wickedness was the key to his true power. However, Vegeta's softer side emerges when he hugs his son Trunks and sacrifices himself in a Final Explosion against Majin Buu. As his family falls victim to Buu, Vegeta comes to terms with the pain he has caused and starts to regret his past actions.

Pride, Arrogance, and Underestimation

Throughout the series, Vegeta displays an extraordinary level of vanity and egotism, as evidenced in his battles with Semi-Perfect Cell and Super Buu. His arrogance often leads him to underestimate his opponents and make reckless decisions. Vegeta's pride and rivalry with Goku define their complex relationship, which evolves from contempt to friendship over time. Despite their differences, the two Saiyans share a deep bond and mutual respect.

A Warrior's Growth and Acceptance

Initially, Vegeta's arrogance and past wrongdoings earn him disdain from others, such as Piccolo, Krillin, and Tien. However, following his successful plan to defeat Kid Buu, Vegeta is acknowledged as a powerful and reliable warrior. He reconciles with the Z Fighters and accepts them as true comrades. Despite their differences, Vegeta cares for his younger brother Tarble and shows disappointment in his lack of fighting power. Over time, Vegeta's journey leads him to redemption and growth, transforming him from an anti-hero to a respected protagonist.

A Shift in Personality and Motivation

After the Kid Buu Saga, Vegeta displays a more relaxed demeanor, often seen smiling and cracking jokes. His attitude towards fighting changes as well, with his focus shifting from surpassing Goku to exploring his own limits. While he retains his rivalry with Goku, it is now driven by a desire to test himself rather than prove superiority. Despite developing an age crisis, Vegeta remains determined to protect his newfound home, Earth, and develops strong morals, rejecting offers of power that conflict with his values.

Embracing Family Bonds

Initially indifferent to familial bonds, Vegeta gradually comes to appreciate his family and home. He takes on the role of a father, teaching Trunks everything he knows and prioritizing his family's happiness and safety. Vegeta is protective of his family, drawing strength from their well-being and using it to fuel his capabilities in battle. He raises Trunks with a balance of respect and discipline, while doting on his daughter, Bulla.

Fears and Preferences

Vegeta is shown to have a fear of worms and a distaste for vulgar elements. He is also uncomfortable with certain types of clothing, such as a pink shirt provided by Bulma. Despite his initial lack of sentiment, Vegeta eventually develops respect and appreciation for his father and brother, even defending them when necessary.

A Warrior with a Code

Vegeta is hotheaded and quick-tempered in battle but has a strong sense of fairness and dignity. He dislikes fighters who use underhanded tactics and abandons their values. During the Tournament of Destroyers, Vegeta shows great interest in the Saiyans of Universe 6 and takes on a teacher-student relationship with Cabba, vowing to resurrect him and his universe with the Super Dragon Balls.

Atonement and Growth

In the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga, Vegeta reflects on his past actions, particularly on Planet Namek, and vows to protect the Namekians and their new home as a form of atonement. He accepts the consequences of his past actions and fights to make up for them, demonstrating his significant change of character. His morality, while still more ruthless than Goku's, has developed to the point where he cannot fully return to the brutal warrior he once was.

The Evolution of Vegeta and Bulma's Relationship in Dragon Ball

The relationship between Vegeta and Bulma evolved from a tense and rocky beginning to a deep, loving connection that has continued to grow throughout the Dragon Ball series.

First Encounters and Tensions

Vegeta, an elite Saiyan warrior and prince, first met Bulma on Planet Namek during their search for the Dragon Balls. They didn't interact much initially, as Bulma was scared of Vegeta's fierce demeanor and he was solely focused on his mission. Their first real encounter was when Vegeta threatened to kill both Bulma and Krillin, revealing the tension between the two. However, signs of affection began to emerge later on, with Vegeta referring to Bulma as a "gorgeous girl" in a conversation with Gohan, and Bulma admitting her attraction to Vegeta after the battle with Frieza.

Living Together and Building a Connection

Despite their rocky start, Bulma was willing to take Vegeta in when he had nowhere else to go, inviting him to live at Capsule Corporation. During this time, their relationship developed further, with Bulma showing genuine concern for Vegeta's well-being, especially when he was injured during training. Although Vegeta was initially resistant to Bulma's attempts to care for him, he began to submit to her demands, surprising those around them.

The Birth of Trunks and Relationship Struggles

After breaking up with Yamcha, Bulma had a brief affair with Vegeta, leading to the conception of their son, Trunks. Despite this, their relationship remained tumultuous, with frequent arguments and Vegeta prioritizing his rivalry with Goku over his family. However, over time, they began to settle their differences, eventually marrying before the Majin Buu conflict.

A Growing Love and Family

During the seven years of peace following the Cell Games, Vegeta and Bulma's relationship improved significantly, with Vegeta becoming more affectionate and protective of his family. Despite his attempts to maintain his cold-hearted demeanor, it was evident that Vegeta had fallen deeply in love with Bulma. This love was further demonstrated during the Kid Buu Saga, where Vegeta showed jealousy and protectiveness toward Bulma.

Dragon Ball Super and Beyond

In Dragon Ball Super, Vegeta's relationship with Bulma continued to grow stronger, with Vegeta even taking on the God of Destruction, Beerus, to protect her. He also became more considerate of Bulma's feelings, supporting her during her pregnancy with their daughter, Bulla. Vegeta's devotion to his family was further highlighted during the Tournament of Power, where he fought to save them from erasure.

The Origins and Journey of Vegeta, the Saiyan Prince

Early Life and Home Planet

Vegeta, the Prince of the Saiyan race, was born in Age 732 on his home planet, also named Vegeta. His father, King Vegeta, ruled the Saiyan race, but their people were under the control of the interplanetary warlord, Frieza. Vegeta was one of the few full-blooded Saiyan warriors in Dragon Ball Z and one of nine Saiyans who escaped the destruction of Planet Vegeta at the hands of Frieza, under the order of the God of Destruction, Beerus.

Frieza's Control and Relationship with his Father

King Vegeta was forced to surrender his son to Frieza through undisclosed means. Under Frieza's grip, Vegeta, an incredibly strong elite Saiyan warrior, was pressured to do Frieza's bidding, or his father would be murdered. In his youth, Vegeta witnessed the God of Destruction, Beerus, step over his father. Although in the Battle of Gods, Vegeta doesn't try to assist his father, in Dragon Ball Super, he attempts to help but gets paralyzed by Beerus, preventing him from moving.

Vegeta as a Key Character in the Dragon Ball Series

Vegeta serves as the main deuteragonist secondary protagonist behind Goku in the Dragon Ball series. As an extremely powerful warrior, he often rivals and later becomes an ally to Goku. Throughout the series, Vegeta experiences immense growth, transforming from an anti-hero to a hero, husband to Bulma, and father to Trunks and Bulla. At Capsule Corporation, Gohan tells Bulma about how he is being blackmailed into entering the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament by Videl, who saw through his Great Saiyaman disguise. Upon Beerus' arrival, Vegeta is reminded of his past encounter with the God of Destruction and struggles to keep him in a good mood.

As Beerus grows angry with Majin Buu and the other Z Fighters, Vegeta is forced to engage in battle. He fights valiantly in his Super Saiyan form, but Beerus overwhelms him. Vegeta's Journey to Godhood and Golden Frieza Saga

Vegeta's Desperation for Training

Vegeta, one of the few full-blooded Saiyan warriors left in Dragon Ball Z, has been training in the wilderness for several days, but his power level remains stagnant. Frustrated, he returns to Capsule Corporation and encounters Whis with Bulma. Vegeta desperately wants Whis to train him but first, he has to become a God of Destruction. Vegeta offers to show Whis the tastiest food on Earth to be his student, and Whis accepts the challenge.

Vegeta's Training with Whis

Vegeta takes Whis to different restaurants to try the food, but Whis has already been there because of Bulma. Vegeta then tries to cook himself but fails miserably. Eventually, he deduces that Bulma had been hiding the world's "most delicious food" from Whis: instant ramen noodles. Whis finds it delicious, and takes Vegeta in as his student, training him on Beerus' Planet for six months. After six months, Goku notes that Vegeta has gotten stronger and may have surpassed him. Vegeta and Goku train with Whis, but Vegeta struggles to keep up with Goku. Whis points out that Vegeta overthinks the situation and carries a lot of mental and emotional baggage, so he needs to relax like Goku.

The Revival of Frieza

While Vegeta is training with Whis, Frieza has been revived on Earth using the Dragon Balls. Goku senses his energy but doesn't know what it is, and Vegeta tells him to ignore it and continue doing housework. Later, while Vegeta and Goku are sparring under the supervision of Whis, they somehow tap into the power of a new transformation. Vegeta and Goku are then sent to "that place" to get stronger, where they are unable to move until Vegeta realizes that they shouldn't have their ki leaking out. They eventually get released from that place, but Beerus gets angry at them for eating his food. The Oracle Fish then tells Whis that Vegeta and Goku are needed on Earth.

The Battle Against Frieza

Vegeta and Goku need a way to get to Earth quickly. Goku tries using Instant Transmission, but Earth is too far for him to sense anyone. However, after trying, Goku is able to sense Gohan when he powered up due to Piccolo's death. As soon as they get to Earth, Vegeta brings a drained Gohan to Krillin and demands that Trunks obey Goku's order to leave the battlefield and help resurrect Piccolo. Vegeta then mocks and easily kills Ginyu, who possessed Tagoma's body, to keep him from interfering in their battle against Frieza. The battle continues, with Frieza transforming into his new Golden Frieza form and Vegeta turning into a Super Saiyan Blue. Vegeta dominates over the exhausted Golden Frieza until he reverts into his Final form. Vegeta is about to kill Frieza with a Big Bang Attack until Frieza uses his Earth Breaker technique to blow up the Earth, killing Vegeta and everyone else on the planet except for those shielded by Beerus and Whis.

Vegeta's Resurrection and Redemption

The event is later undone by Whis' Temporal Do-Over technique, and Goku kills Frieza himself in his Super Saiyan Blue form after Vegeta teleports himself out of the way of the Kamehameha. Vegeta gets angry with Goku for stealing his kill, but Bulma

The Universe 6 Saga: Vegeta and Goku's Journey to the Tournament

Vegeta and Goku's Training Session

After their battle against Golden Frieza, Vegeta continues his training with Goku and Whis. On Beerus' planet, the two Saiyans are sparring when Goku begins using Instant Transmission, infuriating Vegeta. The prince loses his cool, but before Goku could strike him, Vegeta turns Super Saiyan Blue and blasts Goku. In retaliation, Goku also transforms into Super Saiyan Blue, but not before biting his tongue and complaining about the form's long name. Whis then suggests the name "Super Saiyan Blue." The two are later punished for using transformations by wearing heavy suits.

Champa and Vados' Visit

Champa and Vados unexpectedly arrive on Beerus' planet, and Goku starts asking questions. Vados responds and reveals that Champa is a God of Destruction from Universe 6 and Beerus' twin brother. After learning that Universe 6 also has an Earth, Vegeta and Goku are excited to participate in the upcoming five-on-five tournament using warriors from their respective universes.

Preparing for the Tournament

The rules for the tournament are announced, and Vegeta and Goku join Beerus' team along with Piccolo, Good Buu, and a mysterious fighter named Monaka. Vegeta suggests having Gohan fight, but Goku wants him to focus on studying. They go to Earth to get Bulma to invent a new Dragon Radar, and she contacts her sister Tights to get Jaco to take them to Zuno to find the center of the universe.

Training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber

Vegeta and Goku train together in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, and Vegeta shares his confidence that the Universe 6 fighters will be strong. Goku compliments Vegeta's intelligence, and the prince transforms into Super Saiyan Blue to train further. The two continue to train for three years in the chamber before exiting with beards and a bad smell.

The Day of the Tournament

Vegeta and Goku return to Capsule Corporation to clean up before heading to the Nameless Planet for the tournament. They pick up Beerus and Monaka and are surprised to learn that Monaka is the strongest fighter Beerus has ever faced. They eat meat Chi-Chi has grilled on their way to the planet and play a game of Shiritori.

Arrival and First Encounter

After two hours and forty-five minutes of traveling, Vegeta and Goku arrive on the Nameless Planet to participate in the tournament. Vegeta is eager to take the exam and compete. However, on their way to the stage, Vegeta and Goku notice a warrior from Universe 6 that looks like Frieza. Piccolo assures them that the warrior is not evil. As the written exam is about to begin, Vegeta notices a Saiyan named Cabba and asks him about the Saiyan race in Universe 6. Vegeta is shocked to learn that the planet Sadala still exists in Universe 6.

The Written Exam and Cabba

The written exam commences and Vegeta passes, but they are short one fighter as Majin Buu failed. Vegeta blames Goku for suggesting the test. Beerus chooses Monaka to be last, Goku is first, and Vegeta is third. Vegeta watches Goku's match with Botamo and Piccolo's match with Frost. Vegeta demands to fight Frost himself after he cheated in his match against Piccolo. As the match between Vegeta and Frost begins, Vegeta transforms into a Super Saiyan and defeats him.

The Battle with Cabba

Vegeta's next match is against Cabba, who he realizes is an incredibly strong elite Saiyan warrior. Vegeta initially dominates Cabba, who surrenders, but Vegeta refuses to let him quit and threatens to destroy Sadala. Cabba becomes enraged and turns into a Super Saiyan, prompting Vegeta to turn into a Super Saiyan Blue. Vegeta knocks Cabba out with a single punch to the stomach and tells him to remember the feeling of anger, which is the fuel to his Super Saiyan power.

The Battle with Hit

Vegeta is unable to land a single attack on Hit during their match and is completely dominated. Goku is able to put up a better fight against Hit and even uses Kaio-Ken in his Super Saiyan Blue form. Vegeta becomes enraged at Goku's use of Kaio-Ken and the realization that Goku is always one step ahead of him. Vegeta is stunned when Goku forfeits his match against Hit due to the tournament rules putting the assassin at a distinct disadvantage.

The Arrival of Zeno

When Zeno arrives, Vegeta is shocked to learn that he rules over the 12 universes. After Zeno leaves, Cabba refers to Vegeta as his mentor and asks him to visit his home planet, which irritates Vegeta.

The Copy-Vegeta Saga: Vegeta's Fight Against His Doppelganger

Bulma's Party and the Commeson Threat

Vegeta attends Bulma's party and focuses on making sure there is enough food for everyone and not to upset Beerus. When Bulma criticizes Beerus for using Monaka as a weakling, Vegeta defends Beerus and explains that it was meant to motivate him and Goku. Later, Vegeta and Piccolo interfere in Goku's fight with "Monaka" when Beerus's tail pops out of the costume. During the battle, Vegeta is absorbed by a piece of Commeson and transformed into a weaker version of himself called Duplicate Vegeta. The only way to reverse this is to defeat Duplicate Vegeta, and time is running out for Vegeta.

The Battle Against Duplicate Vegeta

Gotenks engages in battle with Duplicate Vegeta, but he is unable to defeat him. Vegeta becomes transparent as his body slowly disappears due to the Commeson's effects. While Goku battles Duplicate Vegeta, Vegeta switches sides multiple times, feeling frustrated that he is not the one fighting against Goku. In the end, Goku defeats Duplicate Vegeta with a God Kamehameha, saving Vegeta's life.

Vegeta's Pride and Humiliation

After the battle, Vegeta is relieved that he is still alive, but he is mortified that he unwittingly humiliated himself by sucking on a pacifier to prolong his life. Goku asks him why he was chewing on it, and Vegeta is completely embarrassed. Vegeta and Goku watch the sunset, and Vegeta becomes melodramatic, stating that he would prefer death to unintentional humiliation. Goku objects, stating that they will never be able to settle their score if Vegeta is dead.

The Future Trunks Saga: Vegeta's Training and Battle Against Goku Black

Vegeta and Goku Receive a Distress Call

In the "Future" Trunks Saga, Vegeta and Goku are on Beerus' planet, discussing the ramen they ate with Beerus and Whis. However, their peaceful moment is interrupted when Whis receives a distress call from Bulma on Earth. They discover that Future Trunks, one of the last four Saiyans left in the world, is severely injured and unconscious after barely escaping his alternate timeline.

Vegeta Trains Future Trunks

Vegeta instructs Goku to teleport to Korin Tower to get some Senzu Beans while Bulma feeds Future Trunks one to help him recover. When Future Trunks wakes up and sees Goku, he angrily attacks him. Bulma slaps Future Trunks to snap him out of it, and Vegeta tells him he doesn't need his sword. Future Trunks then tells them about Goku Black, an extremely powerful warrior who escaped to the present timeline.

Vegeta berates Future Trunks for turning his back on Black and running away to the past, but they soon discover a message in the notebook Bulma found in the time machine. Goku and Vegeta decide to go to the future to help Future Trunks defeat Black. Vegeta begins training Future Trunks in the gravity chamber while Bulma attempts to repair the time machine.

Vegeta Battles Goku Black

With the time machine fixed, Goku, Vegeta, and Future Trunks go to the future. Vegeta and Goku are shocked by the wreckage they see, and Future Trunks discovers Future Mai's hat. Vegeta secures the right to fight Black first and begins battling him when he appears before the group.

Vegeta powers straight up to Super Saiyan Blue and overwhelms Goku Black, who transforms into a Super Saiyan Rosé to gain the advantage. Vegeta is mortally wounded in the fight, falling unconscious throughout the entire battle between Goku, Future Trunks, Black, and Future Zamasu. He wakes up briefly to witness Future Zamasu's appearance and again to save Goku and Future Trunks from being killed by their combined attack.

Vegeta Trains in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber

While Goku accompanies Beerus and Whis to Universe 10, Vegeta stays at Capsule Corp, arduously training in the Gravity Chamber. The three Saiyans later return to the alternate timeline, this time with Bulma accompanying them. They engage in another fight with Goku Black and Future Zamasu, with Future Trunks transforming into a new form and Vegeta, Goku, and Bulma returning to the past to figure out a plan.

When Goku takes the idea from Piccolo to use the Evil Containment Wave, Vegeta decides to enter the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for a fourth time to train for half a day (roughly six months) as the Time Machine recharges.

Vegeta, Goku, and Bulma Return to the Future

In the anime, Vegeta, Goku, and Bulma return to the future after half a day has passed, only to realize that Future Trunks' ki is fading away. They are immediately confronted by Future Zamasu and Goku Black, and as they prepare to fight, they are interrupted by the arrival of Gowasu and Shin, who traveled to the future via a Time Ring. Vegeta and Goku shield Gowasu and Shin from being killed by the corrupt pair, and both pairs start fighting.

Vegeta's Fight Against Goku Black

In the anime, Vegeta powers up as he faces off against Goku Black. He lands many hits on Black, but Black warns Vegeta that he is just an "appetizer". Vegeta gets the upper hand in the fight and fires off a huge blast at Black, mocking him and telling him to come out of hiding. Black realizes that rage is what made Vegeta so strong, and the Saiyan watches as Black summons a scythe and creates a dark rift in the universe.

Fused Zamasu's Appearance

In both the anime and manga, Goku Black and Future Zamasu fuse together to become Fused Zamasu, shocking Goku and Vegeta. In the manga, Vegeta unexpectedly counters Black's full power Super Saiyan Rosé by transforming into a Super Saiyan God and begins to overwhelm him in combat. In the anime, Vegeta wonders what Fused Zamasu plans on doing while the fusion felt his new power.

Vegeta and Goku's Fight Against Fused Zamasu

Vegeta orders Future Trunks to protect Bulma and Mai and then holds off one of Fused Zamasu's attacks with Goku to ensure that they make it to safety. Vegeta and Goku hold off against Fused Zamasu's Blades of Judgement which shakes the Earth. Vegeta remarks that it's possible to win because he never felt such a power before and states that he will never forgive Zamasu.

Vegeta's Determination and Sacrifice

Vegeta warns Fused Zamasu not to get too cocky, charges at him, and dodges all of his attacks, then fires an energy blast at the fusion. Unharmed, Fused Zamasu creates a Wall of Light and fires his Lightning of Absolution at Vegeta, launching the Saiyan towards the ground. Vegeta gets up and tells Fused Zamasu to stop talking as he powers up, explaining that Saiyans have no limits. Vegeta and Goku, at full power, charge Fused Zamasu, dodging the Lightning of Absolution. They enter the Wall of Light itself and after flying through it, the wall is destroyed.

Vegeta steps in front and takes the hit for his son, knocking off a piece of his battle armor in the process and injuring him. Vegeta remains under Future Trunks' care while Goku temporarily ends Fused Zamasu's attacks.

Vegito's Appearance and Defeat

In both the anime and manga, Goku proposes the idea of using the Potara to fuse with Vegeta. After being persuaded by Goku and eating a Senzu Bean, Vegeta complies and puts a Potara on his ear, fusing into Vegito. The fusion wears off early due to the Potara's time limit and they are beaten down by Fused Zamasu.

Future Trunks' Victory

Goku and Vegeta watch as Future Trunks engages in battle with Zamasu, and witness Trunks finish Zamasu off with his Sword of Hope, slicing Zamasu in half.

Vegeta vs Fused Zamasu

In the manga, Vegeta faces a fierce battle against Fused Zamasu, an extremely powerful warrior who begins torturing Goku. As Vegeta is knocked away, Future Trunks attempts to heal him, but Vegeta reveals that while fused with Goku, he learned that Goku had mastered Super Saiyan Blue. Instead, Vegeta urges Trunks to heal Goku, who he saves from Fused Zamasu's assault. However, Vegeta is then grabbed by the god, and in a desperate attempt to free himself, utilizes a weaker version of Final Explosion. Though he manages to break free, Fused Zamasu brutally beats Vegeta until he is unconscious, prompting Goku to intervene before Vegeta is killed. With the help of Shin and Future Trunks, Vegeta is stabilized and watches as Goku battles Fused Zamasu.

Erasing Fused Zamasu

After the battle, they celebrate their victory, but soon realize that Zamasu's will remains intact, and he has become a reality-encompassing entity that is taking over the multiverse. Goku calls Future Zeno and has him erase Fused Zamasu, and accidentally the entire multiverse of Trunks' timeline, from existence. They then retreat back to the present timeline before Zeno erases them as well.

Training with Whis

In the aftermath of the battle, Vegeta is seen training alone on Beerus' planet with Whis, still unable to touch him. Beerus interrupts the training and notices Goku is not present. Concerned, he asks why Goku is not training for Zeno's tournament, reminding them that Goku is Universe 7's strongest fighter and their chosen champion. Vegeta, annoyed at not being considered the best and once again chosen under Goku, demands to do Goku's workouts so that he can prove that he is better than Goku once and for all. Whis refuses, saying Vegeta can't handle Goku's warm-up, but may allow him to do some if he can finish his work out early.

Confronting Goku

Vegeta becomes suspicious of Goku's absence and tricks Beerus and Whis to go to Earth where they witness Goku and Hit fighting. Vegeta confronts Goku, jealously asking if Goku enjoyed fighting Hit more than himself. Goku denies this and explains that Hit was there to kill him, giving him reason to fight at his best. After learning someone put a hit out on Goku's life, Vegeta demands to know who it is, but eventually figures out that Goku put a hit on himself so he could fight Hit again.

Illusion of Vegeta

When Goku and Goten were looking for a sparring partner, Goten told Gohan that Vegeta is too busy to train. Goku and Krillin were sent into a forest to retrieve a special herb for Master Roshi, where an illusion of Vegeta and other villains from the Z-Fighters' past show up to challenge them. Though Goku casually goes to backhand the illusion of evil Vegeta, it blocks the hit and then punches Goku into a large rock.

Vegeta's Journey in the Universe Survival Saga

Bulma's Pregnancy and Vegeta's Decision

Months later, Vegeta awaits the birth of his second child with Bulma. Goku invites him to join the Zeno's Tournament, but Vegeta declines as he wants to stay with Bulma until she gives birth. Later, Whis informs Goku about the exhibition matches Future Zeno wants to see, but Vegeta still refuses to participate. In the manga, Vegeta helps with the laundry and keeps an eye on Bulma as she exercises in the gravity room. He is concerned about her moving too much and thinks he's going to start getting rusty soon due to not training. Goten asks if he's excited about the baby, but Vegeta stays per Bulma's order. He ponders on a royal Saiyan name to give the infant.

The Birth of Bulla and Vegeta's Love for His Daughter

Goku returns and informs Vegeta of the events from the Zeno Expo and the battle royal in two days. Vegeta still refuses to enter unless they convince Bulma to allow him. Later, Whis speeds up the birth, and with the baby now born, Vegeta is allowed to enter the tournament without worry. Seeing Bulma with their newborn daughter, Vegeta quickly comes to love the baby. He stays afar as everyone bonds with the baby girl and reacts with anger when Hercule and Yamcha make her cry. Trunks asks Vegeta to hold the baby, and he instantly agrees because he says Trunks is not holding her properly. Vegeta is about to announce a name for her when Bulma decides on Bulla, much to Vegeta's outrage. He wanted his daughter to have a strong Saiyan name, but he relents later. He later gets irritated at Beerus and Whis for lounging at Capsule Corp., saying it is not a cheap hotel for them to nap at.

Vegeta's Decision to Fight and His Faith in Gohan

In the manga, Vegeta agrees to fight in the tournament without much of an argument and discusses strategy with Beerus, Whis, and Shin. After Buu is found to have entered a hibernated sleep, Vegeta puts Gohan in Buu's place, stating that if Gohan can regain his fighting senses in time, his full potential will be extremely useful. Even though Beerus protested it, Vegeta remained steadfast on Gohan, showing an unusual amount of faith and confidence in him.

Last Minute Training and Vegeta's Uneasiness with Frieza

Vegeta goes to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for last minute training and is warned by Mr. Popo to not blow it up again. Vegeta blows it up anyway and returns to Capsule Corp., where Gohan tells everyone the truth about the universe being erased if Universe 7 loses. Goku suggests they recruit Frieza, but Vegeta adamantly refuses this and tells Goku to not use the Dragon Balls to resurrect Frieza. Nevertheless, Goku goes to Hell to recruit Frieza. Vegeta is still uneasy with this, but Whis points out that Frieza's resurrection compared to the current dilemma is small. When Trunks questions why Frieza's picture is on the team member board, Vegeta lies that Frieza is redeemed to confirm Bulma's lie about everyone being guests for the celebration of Bulla's birth, although he is disgusted with himself for defending Frieza. Vegeta and Bulma then get irritated at Goku for using Trunks as a bargain to convince 17 to enter in the tournament.

The Beginning of the Tournament of Power

Goku returns to Capsule Corp. with Frieza, and Vegeta stands in front of Bulma, mocking Frieza's halo suit. Frieza retorts, saying he'll give Vegeta one. Beerus and Goku intervene, telling them to stop provoking each other. Vegeta refuses to agree to the plan of teamwork, believing they should take out the opponents who appear strong. Frieza mocks Vegeta, and Piccolo reminds him that his children will be erased if Universe 7 loses. Shin explains the plan to attack their opponents as a group, but Vegeta agrees with Goku's assessment that avoiding single combat is a sign of spineless behavior. Retaining his deep resentment, he refuses to be in a "friendship circle" with Frieza.

Vegeta's First Battles

After arriving at the Null Realm, Vegeta is greeted by Cabba and is introduced to Caulifla and Kale. Caulifla insults the Saiyans by calling them wimps for acting scared of Jiren, which offends Vegeta. Gohan goes over the plan with the team, which Vegeta finds boring. Soon afterwards, the Tournament of Power begins, and Vegeta spends the beginning of his time in the tournament sticking together with his team despite his opinion of the plan. Eventually, he goes off on his own, as do the Androids and Frieza. Vegeta is then seen repeatedly punching Hyssop, who was at the time crossing his arms for defense. He then turns his attention towards other fighters, such as Nigrissi and Obni, and notices that the Trio of Danger is overpowering Goku. Vegeta goes to help Goku and eventually defeats Hop with his Amazing Impact, knocking her off the stage in the process.

The Final Battles

Vegeta then focuses on fighting Lavender and Basil as the Trio De Dangers are the last Universe 9 members left. After overpowering Lavender when he tries to poison him again, the trio tries to finish off the Saiyans with their Triangle Danger Beam. Vegeta combines his Final Flash with Goku's Kamehameha as they go Super Saiyan Blue and knock them off the stage. This results in Universe 9 getting erased by the two Zenos, as he, alongside Goku and the other competitors, watches in utter amazement and reverts into their base forms.

Vegeta vs. Bota Magetta

After the tournament resumed, Vegeta went after Hit in Super Saiyan form to pay him back for their previous tournament, but his punch was blocked by Botamo. Vegeta repeatedly punched Botamo, but it had no effect on the fighter. Vegeta then decided to throw Botamo, but the latter prevented it from happening. Vegeta tied Botamo's arms in a knot and attempted to throw him off the arena, but Auta Magetta interfered. Vegeta then fought both Auta Magetta and Botamo, referring to the task as laughable. He kept up on agility and dodged their attacks until he managed to lose them.

Vegeta vs. Cabba and Kale's Transformation

Cabba approached Vegeta and decided to fight him after he effortlessly defeated Nigrissi and Murisam at the same time. Meanwhile, Vegeta noticed Kale's Legendary Super Saiyan transformation prior to the start of their battle. Vegeta later witnessed the skirmish between Goku and Kale, speculating that it may be a Saiyan's true form. As Kale began to devastate the arena, Vegeta and the other competitors avoided the barrage of energy blasts. After Kale's rampage, Vegeta regrouped with the other members of Team Universe 7.

Vegeta vs. Brianne de Chateau and Prum

Vegeta fought an equal battle with Brianne de Chateau and was impressed with their transformation. During the battle, Brianne transformed into a ball and launched herself at Vegeta, who instinctively dodged her attack due to her gross face. Vegeta and Goku then went to take out Prum, charging a Galick Gun and Kamehameha respectively, and destroy Prum's position. Vegeta fired another Galick Gun at Prum, but the sniper reflected it back at him and Goku. Vegeta then decided to throw rocks, and Goku followed him. After Hermila was eliminated, Vegeta and Goku cornered Prum, who ran away but was tackled by Dr. Rota. Vegeta then took out both fighters with another Galick Gun.

Vegeta's Reaction to Losing Team Members

After defeating Prum and Dr. Rota, Goku told Vegeta that they lost two members. Vegeta was initially disappointed but was later reassured by Goku. The two then departed together.

Vegeta vs. Frost and Magetta

During the Tournament of Power, Vegeta observes the fighting while his teammate, Master Roshi, is in combat with Frost. Frost shoots a Chaos Beam at Vegeta, but he deflects it. Vegeta saves Roshi from elimination, but only because Frost angers him. Vegeta then engages Frost and Magetta in combat. Master Roshi tries to seal Magetta with an Evil Containment Wave, but Frost reflects it and throws it at Vegeta, who is then sealed inside a jar. Vegeta manages to turn Super Saiyan Blue, and he insults Magetta, causing him to lose his will to fight. Frost escapes with a Ki Smoke Bomb, and Vegeta kicks Magetta off the stage.

Vegeta's Observations of Goku and Jiren's Battle

Vegeta observes the fight between Goku and Jiren, and like the other fighters, he is in awe of Jiren's immense power. During Universe 7's Spirit Bomb exchange, Vegeta refuses to donate his energy due to his pride. However, he notices Ribrianne attempting to attack Goku and blasts her away with a ki blast. When Goku is defeated by Jiren, Vegeta asks how he achieved such power, but Goku has no answer. Vegeta leaves Goku to recover and returns to the battleground.

Vegeta vs. Top and his Encounter with Cabba

Vegeta sets his sights on Jiren, but Top appears in front of him. Top challenges Vegeta, but he initially has no interest in fighting Universe 11's Number 2 fighter. Vegeta eventually battles Top, but he is distracted by Caulifla and Kale's fusion. Top traps Vegeta in a lock, causing him great pain, but Vegeta manages to release himself and knock out Top. Vegeta saves Cabba from falling out of the arena but knees him in the gut, reminding him of their promise to introduce him to the Universe 6 Saiyan King. Vegeta tells Cabba to fight with the pride of a Saiyan and assures him that he will use the Super Dragon Balls to resurrect their universes after the tournament.

Vegeta's Resolve to Master Ultra Instinct

After Kefla emerges, Vegeta is distracted from his battle with Top. Vegeta watches Ultra Instinct Sign Goku fight Kefla and realizes that Goku has attained Ultra Instinct. Vegeta is furious that Goku has surpassed him once again and determines to master Ultra Instinct before him.

Vegeta vs. Katopesla and Universe 3

Vegeta, an incredibly strong elite Saiyan warrior, roams the battlefield cursing his fellow Saiyan's unprecedented feat when he is met by Catopesra, a policeman of Universe 3. Katopesla changes from his Speed Mode to his Battle Mode, which increases his attack's power 300 fold. Vegeta attempts to attain Ultra Instinct against Katopesla by closing his eyes and emptying his mind, but he fails. Having had enough, Vegeta counterattacks with a hard punch to Katopesla's gut, then follows up with a barrage of punches which Katopesla is utterly helpless against.

Vegeta's Battles in the Tournament of Power

After Universe 3 is erased, Vegeta and the remainder of Team Universe 7 fight Team Universe 11. Vegeta interrupts Goku's fight with Jiren with the intent of defeating Jiren himself. Even after he caught on to Jiren's movements, he is overwhelmed and nearly thrown off the stage. Vegeta manages to survive and responds to Jiren's comment on his arrogance by declaring that he cannot run from who he is and that instead of using Ultra Instinct, he'll find his own way to defeat Jiren. Following this, he dramatically increases his power before using a Final Flash. Despite the initial appearance of Vegeta's victory, Jiren is unharmed and severely injures Vegeta. However, Vegeta is eventually able to recover and achieve a new form of Super Saiyan.

Vegeta's Final Battle Against Jiren

Vegeta faces Jiren alone, despite the disadvantage he has against Jiren. Throughout the fight, Jiren questions why Vegeta continues the fight despite being outmatched, to which Vegeta reprimands him for his nonchalant purpose in fighting. Vegeta presses the attack but is easily overpowered. Jiren acknowledges Vegeta's "great pride" before finishing Vegeta off, with Vegeta apologizing to Bulma and Cabba, and gives the remainder of his energy to Goku in order for him to fight Jiren.

Vegeta's Redemption and Rematch with Goku

Following his defeat, Vegeta surprisingly accepts it calmly and opts to cheer on Goku. After the tournament, Vegeta holds Bulla and smiles proudly at his daughter during the celebration party. However, when Pan hits him in the face while she flies, he gets angry and decides to have a rematch with Goku. At the location where their first fight occurred, Goku admits he can no longer use Ultra Instinct and Vegeta declares he will achieve a power far greater. The two then proceed to have their rematch.

Vegeta's Role in the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga

Training with Goku and the Galactic Patrol Call

After their intense battle with Broly, Vegeta and Goku return to training in the Gravity Training Room. During their sparring session, Vegeta asks Goku about Ultra Instinct, but Goku admits he hasn't been able to use it since the Tournament of Power. Vegeta deems the technique useless if Goku can't use it at will. Suddenly, they receive an urgent call from Mr. Satan regarding a mysterious gang trying to kidnap Buu. Vegeta insists on handling it alone and flies to Satan City, where he is knocked out by Merus' Stun Gun. He wakes up aboard the Galactic Patrol Headquarters and learns about a dangerous criminal named Moro who has escaped from the Galactic Prison and the Grand Supreme Kai inside of Buu is needed to stop him.

Vegeta and Goku Join the Galactic Patrol

Goku offers to help catch Moro, so he and Vegeta are inducted into the Galactic Patrol as temporary special members. They join Merus on their mission to the Planet Jung to capture the Macareni gang trying to steal some Blue Aurum. During this mission, Vegeta takes notice of Merus' abilities and questions if he can catch Moro by himself, but Merus says he can't.

Confrontation with Moro on New Namek

The team discovers that Moro is heading to New Namek to gather the Dragon Balls. Goku uses his Instant Transmission to teleport to New Namek and Vegeta follows. Vegeta mocks Moro for being a feeble old man, but Moro quickly reveals his strength and attacks the planet with life energy to gain the upper hand. Vegeta transforms into Super Saiyan God, and the battle initially goes in his favor until Moro reveals he was holding back. Vegeta then has to use Super Saiyan Blue, and the tide of the battle changes again. However, Moro drains both Vegeta and Goku of their energy and defeats them, leaving them for dead.

Rescued by Moori and Esca

Vegeta and Goku are rescued by Moori and Esca and taken to a nearby house where they are looked after for the next three days.

Vegeta's Journey to Yardrat

After sensing Moro heading their way once again, Goku and Vegeta set out to confront him, but Merus arrives first on a Galactic Patrol spaceship and captures him with a device. When Buu spots Moro, he becomes enraged and overwhelms him in battle, revealing that Moro's energy absorption doesn't work on him. However, Moro's magic is returned to him thanks to Cranberry using Porunga, and he flees the area. Buu restores Goku and Vegeta's energy, and they see that the Grand Supreme Kai has manifested his way through Buu.

Goku teleports himself, Vegeta, and the Grand Supreme Kai to Moro's location, but Moro heads out further into space, and Goku is unable to continue the fight. Merus assists Grand Supreme Kai, and Moro is teleported back to New Namek, where Goku and Vegeta await him. Moro informs them of his third wish to have all the prisoners from the Galactic Prison go free, and they soon appear by his side. Moro shares his power with the prisoners, putting them into an empowered state, and they gang up on Goku, Vegeta, and Grand Supreme Kai.

The Saiyans and Kai are overpowered by the prisoners, but when Moro begins to absorb their energy once again, they struggle. With the planet on the verge of destruction, Goku uses his Instant Transmission to teleport all of his allies except Vegeta, who chooses to go his separate way, back to Galactic Patrol Headquarters. Vegeta heads aboard a Galactic Patrol spaceship piloted by member Irico and demands that he take him to the planet Planet Yardrat, sensing that Moro is heading off in the opposite direction.

Irico tells Vegeta that it will take one week before they reach Planet Yardrat and asks him what purpose he has for going there. Vegeta tells Irico that he hopes to be taught something that may help him against Moro. He heads into his room where he vows that the next time he and Moro meet, he will defeat him and surpass Goku as well. One week later, Vegeta finally reaches Yardrat, where he is greeted by a group of Yardrats who give their gratitude toward Vegeta for defeating the Ginyu Force alongside Goku.

The Yardrats mistake Irico for Vegeta, and Vegeta asks one of the Yardrats who taught Goku Instant Transmission. The Yardrat then leads Vegeta and Irico to see the elder Pybara, who reveals that the Yardrats' main source and study of power is something known as Spirit Control. Vegeta asks Pybara to teach him Spirit Control, and Pybara demonstrates his usage of Spirit Control to Vegeta, reverting back to his normal small size from his giant size that he achieved through gigantification. Vegeta vows to master Spirit Control and defeat Moro.

Vegeta's journey to master a new technique begins when it is time for him to learn the techniques of the Yardrats, a race known for their unique abilities. He starts with the basics, the Instant Transmission, but before they begin, he notices a disturbance nearby. Vegeta heads out to confront Yuzun along with two others, and he easily defeats them. Short on time, he asks Pybara, a Yardrat, to teach him something that can bring Moro down and spends the next two months training.

Vegeta's Refusal to Join the Battle

By the time of the Galactic Bandit Brigade's assault on Earth, Vegeta is shown to still be training and refuses to rush to Earth to help until he has mastered his new technique. He still has time as Moro himself has not yet entered the battle. Eventually, he notices that Moro has begun fighting with his opponent being Goku and shortly after he masters his technique. He asks Pybara to teleport him to Earth only to be told that it is against the rules of the Yardrats to teleport off-world.

Vegeta's Success in Mastering the New Technique

Vegeta demands to be taught the Instant Transmission technique himself, saying that he will master it faster than anyone before. Sure enough, after a brief misstep, he successfully teleports himself back to Earth much to Goku's surprise. Telling Goku that he probably wouldn't be able to pull it off again nor has any intention of learning it afterwards, he states that he has learned a superior technique and tells Android 17 and 18 that it is now his turn to fight Moro.

Vegeta's Battle Against Moro

After taunting Moro, Vegeta transforms into his Super Saiyan God SS Evolved form and charges straight for him. Vegeta strikes Moro in the abdomen, but the damage is negligible. Moro praises his increased strength but says that it will not be enough. Undeterred Vegeta presses on and Moro becomes more pressured as his initial advantage seems to slip away. Goku realizes what is happening, and Vegeta confirms that he is using Forced Spirit Fission. As Vegeta beats down Moro, energy leaves his body, forming into a ball in the sky.

Liberating Namek's Energy

As Vegeta beats down Moro, energy begins to leave Moro's body and form a ball in the sky. Moro becomes elderly in appearance and questions Vegeta about what he's done to him. Vegeta explains that he's liberated the stolen energy and restores the previously deceased Namekians back to life. He even offers to bring back the Namekians that he had combined with earlier in his life.

Vegeta's Determination

Vegeta voices his distaste for Fusions and Absorption, as he craves a fair fight and tells Moro to use his own strength. With Moro on his last legs, Vegeta asks Jaco if he wants him brought in alive or dead. Jaco confirms the latter, and Vegeta proclaims that he will send Moro to Hell. But Moro reminds Vegeta that he still has his Magic and causes a temporary distraction. Moro races to his spaceship where he absorbs Seven-Three and Vegeta takes off after him.

Vegeta's Defeat

Vegeta throws a blast at Moro, but when the smoke clears, he is stunned to see that Moro has acquired his abilities. Moro pummels Vegeta and knocks him out after using the Big Bang Attack against him. Below, Goku and the others watch Vegeta crash to the ground, reverting to his base form. They then spot Moro in his new powered-up form.

Vegeta's Comeback

Vegeta quickly recovers and returns to the fight, back in his Super Saiyan God SS Evolved form, determined to take Moro down. However, against Moro's newfound strength, Vegeta is unable to land an attack necessary to perform his Forced Spirit Fission. Moro uses an afterimage to trick Vegeta and appears behind him, grabbing him by the neck. Vegeta quickly breaks free, but it's too late as Moro has already copied his abilities.

Vegeta's Contribution in the Battle Against Moro

After his forced retreat, Vegeta is eventually healed by Dende along with his fallen allies. Meanwhile, Goku continues to fight against Moro, who has fused with the Earth, making it difficult for him to land a fatal blow. Goku realizes that destroying the crystal on Moro's forehead is his only chance of victory, but Moro's growth has made it nearly impossible. However, Vegeta returns to the battlefield, unleashing his Forced Spirit Fission to rip away Moro's spirit from the Earth, allowing Goku to finish him off.

Vegeta Helps Goku Overcome Moro's Draining Technique

During the battle, Moro entangles Goku with his many fists and drains his power, causing him to revert to his base form. Vegeta's return to the battle with his allies Piccolo and Buu gives Goku the opportunity to recover. However, even with Vegeta's help, Goku still struggles to finish off Moro. Uub, who has been watching from a distance, sends a massive ball of god power Goku's way, which Vegeta channels towards Goku, giving him the necessary power to defeat Moro.

Vegeta's Honors and Medals

After the battle, Vegeta approaches Goku, questioning him about his final burst of power, but Goku is uncertain. Vegeta then joins the celebratory feast at Satan House before heading to Galactic Patrol Headquarters with Goku and Buu to receive honors and medals for their efforts in the battle against Moro. Vegeta is shocked to see that Merus has been revived and takes a commemorative photo with everyone before leaving the Galactic Patrol to return to Earth.

Vegeta's Training with Beerus and the Search for the Strongest Warrior (Granolah the Survivor Saga)

Goku and Vegeta Continue Training with Whis and Beerus

Goku and Vegeta return to Beerus' Planet to continue their training. Vegeta watches as Goku spars with Whis using his Perfected Ultra Instinct state. During the session, Vegeta asks if Whis is using Ultra Instinct at the moment and Beerus tells him that the Angels are always in that state. Beerus asks if Vegeta plans to master Ultra Instinct too, but he declines. Beerus then tells Vegeta that there is another technique of the Gods that the Gods of Destruction use.

Beerus Reveals His Role in the Destruction of Planet Vegeta

Beerus refuses to tell Vegeta what the technique is, but he does tell Vegeta that he is going to get some exercise and that, if he sees anything he wants, he is free to steal it. Beerus questions Vegeta about the Saiyan's destructive history, and Vegeta doesn't understand how this relates to learning a technique used by the God of Destruction. Beerus tells Vegeta that if he doesn't let the sins of his race go, he will never be able to wield the power of destruction. Beerus reveals to Vegeta that he was the one who told Frieza to destroy Planet Vegeta, causing Vegeta to outrage and attack Beerus using his Super Saiyan God SS Evolved state.

Vegeta Learns the Power of Destruction

Beerus dodges Vegeta's attack and hits him with a Hakai, destroying part of his armor. With Vegeta defeated by Beerus once again, the God of Destruction tells him that to grow stronger he must rebuild himself from scratch, as that before creation comes destruction. Vegeta attempts to destroy a small rock with Hakai but instead merely destroys it with a simple Ki blast. After Beerus further explains and displays the ability for him, Vegeta heads over to Goku and Whis and shows off his ability to destroy a tiny pebble with Hakai, saying that soon he will be able to destroy much larger things.

Vegeta Searches for the Strongest Warrior

Vegeta hears from the Oracle Fish that the strongest warrior in the universe will soon rise up and demands to know who it is, though she refuses to answer. Vegeta becomes determined to find and defeat this warrior, and gets back to training with Beerus and Whis.

Vegeta's Training with Hakai

Vegeta makes significant progress with his training, able to destroy large logs using Hakai. Beerus gives him an earring to symbolize that he is able to use Hakai and urges him to prove its superiority over the techniques used by Angels. They board the Heeter's Spaceship and with 18 days until they reach their destination, Vegeta continues to train in the ships swimming pool.

Goku and Vegeta's Encounter with Granolah

Goku and Vegeta finally land on Cereal and quickly take off in search of Granolah. They are attacked by a barrage of accurate Ki Blasts from a distance. Vegeta transforms into a Super Saiyan and charges for the area where the blasts are originating from, only to find that there is nobody there. Goku is then suddenly struck in a vital point from behind and collapses to the ground. Vegeta feeds Goku a Senzu Bean before chastising him for relying too much on Ultra Instinct. They come face to face with Granolah for the first time.

Vegeta's Suspicion and the Battle with Granolah

Vegeta offers Goku the first chance at facing Granolah and then goes to stand amongst a ruined building to watch the upcoming battle. As the two battle on, Vegeta begins to have his suspicions regarding Granolah. Landing on the ground below, Vegeta explores the remains of the ruined city, coming across a Great Ape footprint which makes Vegeta think he knows who Granolah is.

Vegeta's Plan to Defeat Granolah

Vegeta realizes that Granolah may be the last survivor of the Cerealian race and is seeking revenge against the Saiyans for the destruction of his planet. He decides to confront Granolah himself and reveals that he knows his true identity. Vegeta offers to help Granolah defeat Frieza, who was responsible for both the destruction of Planet Cereal and the Saiyan race. They agree to work together to take down Frieza and his empire.

The Final Battle Against Frieza

Vegeta and Granolah team up to fight Frieza and his army. They face difficult challenges but ultimately emerge victorious, with Vegeta finally getting his revenge against Frieza. Granolah then decides to leave the planet and start anew, thanking Vegeta for his help. Goku and Vegeta then return to Beerus' Planet to continue their training, knowing that there will always be new challenges ahead.

Vegeta and Goku realize Granolah's true identity

After learning about the Cerealians and their evolved right eyes, Vegeta and Goku finally understand that Granolah is seeking revenge against the Saiyans. They realize that the Heeters had lied to them about Granolah being a villain, and the only way to convince him otherwise is to defeat him in battle. Goku enters his Perfected Ultra Instinct state, ready to take on Granolah once again.

Vegeta's struggle against Granolah

As the battle rages on, Vegeta begins to suspect that Granolah's power is coming from elsewhere. He is caught off guard when Granolah strikes a pressure point on Goku, causing him to fall unconscious. Vegeta decides that there is no reasoning with Granolah and transforms into his Super Saiyan Blue Evolved state to face him. Despite his newfound powers of destruction, Vegeta finds himself struggling against Granolah's techniques and strength.

Vegeta's confidence and taunts

Even as he takes heavy blows from Granolah, Vegeta remains confident in his victory. He taunts Granolah, exposing his lack of battle experience and causing him to accidentally destroy part of the ancient Cerealian ruins. Vegeta admits that Granolah's strength and techniques have surpassed his own, but he is determined to emerge victorious. Meanwhile, Oatmeel lends a hand in the battle by firing a powerful blast at Vegeta.

Granolah's overconfidence and final showdown

Granolah remains confident that he is the most powerful being in the universe, but Vegeta is not intimidated. Despite Granolah's powerful attacks, Vegeta continues to fight back, ultimately chasing him into a lake. Granolah fires a volley of sniper shots at Vegeta, who manages to evade them and destroy Granolah's attack. In the end, Vegeta emerges victorious, proving himself to be the stronger warrior.

Vegeta Pushed to His Limits

When Granolah lands a pressure point attack that shatters Vegeta's Battle Armor, it seems that the gap in power is too great for Vegeta to overcome. However, Vegeta knows that no outcome is ever certain in a battle, and he finds joy in this unpredictability. Granolah becomes infuriated by Vegeta's refusal to accept defeat, and decides to finish him off once and for all.

Vegeta's New Form

As Granolah fires sniper blasts at Vegeta, the Saiyan's aura swells and ignites into an enormous gout of flame, alerting both Oil and Goku. Goku notes that Vegeta's ki signature feels like that of a God, but not the regular kind. Vegeta has transformed into a new form possessing the traits of the Destroyer Gods themselves, and Granolah's sniper blasts are destroyed on contact.

The Battle Continues

Vegeta releases a burst of his newfound power at Granolah, and the two continue to battle fiercely. Vegeta grabs Granolah by the scarf, claiming that the vengeful Cerealian has let his power go to his head. Vegeta strikes Granolah with a series of heavy blows, piling into his stomach, but the attacks seem to have little effect. Vegeta, however, declares that he is growing stronger by the second.

Granolah's Panic

In a panic, Granolah summons up an Energy Shield to defend himself from Vegeta's attacks. He asks Vegeta why he doesn't dodge attacks like Goku, but Vegeta scoffs at the remark, regarding Perfected Ultra Instinct as a pathetic technique compared to his own. Vegeta tells Granolah to call his new state "Ultra Ego" and charges forward with a mighty double kick that breaks through Granolah's shield and through the city.

Vegeta's Explanation

Granolah is shocked by the new level that Vegeta has risen to and wonders what a God of Destruction is. Vegeta tells him about the Gods of Destruction and the one who is responsible for teaching him about his current power. Granolah asks if the God of Destruction was the one who granted him his new power, but Vegeta says the power is his own and he awakened it during their battle.

The Ultimate Showdown

The battle between Vegeta and Granolah continues to escalate, with Granolah firing a volley of energy blasts at Vegeta, who defiantly withstands them before charging forward. Vegeta's newfound power has surpassed that of Granolah's, and the Cerealian is left in awe. The ultimate showdown between Vegeta and Granolah is about to reach its climax, with both warriors determined to emerge victorious.

Vegeta vs Granolah

Vegeta and Granolah continue their intense battle, with Vegeta struggling to keep up with Granolah's newfound power. Vegeta explains to Granolah that Frieza was also responsible for wiping out his race's home world, but Granolah remains focused on his revenge against the Saiyans. Despite Oatmeel's attempt to point out the contradictions in Vegeta's words, Granolah throws him away, claiming he no longer needs his support now that he is the strongest in the universe.

Double Galick Cannon

As the battle rages on, Vegeta realizes that he has taken too much damage and fires a powerful Double Galick Cannon, but Granolah continues to remain standing, taking aim at Vegeta. Vegeta decides to put an end to the fight, powering up and throwing a Sphere of Destruction which he vows will destroy anything it touches. However, Granolah awakens his other eye, giving him the power to destroy Vegeta's attack and rock the planet in the process.

Ultra Ego

Vegeta is grounded by the attack, but soon stirs to watch as Goku takes on Granolah. Vegeta decides to take over and asks Goku to leave the fight to him. Vegeta enters into his Ultra Ego state again, and the two continue their battle. Vegeta strikes Granolah into the city where the Sugarians live, and Granolah pleads with him to take the fight elsewhere. Vegeta taunts Granolah, saying that he cannot use his rapid-fire attacks in the city. Granolah charges in to strike at Vegeta's heart, but Goku saves him by pushing him away using a Kiai.

Final Sacrifice

Vegeta regains his strength and asks Goku to leave the fight to him. Vegeta continues to battle Granolah, overpowering him with his Ultra Ego state. Granolah becomes angry at Vegeta and uses a Kiai to hurtle Vegeta out of the city. Granolah approaches Vegeta and summons up all his power in a final sacrificial attempt to finish him off. In a surprising twist, Granolah's attack fails to harm Vegeta, and he realizes that he was wrong to seek revenge against the Saiyans.

A New Understanding

Vegeta and Granolah come to a new understanding as they realize that they both have been wrong in their own ways. Vegeta acknowledges that the Saiyans have done wrong in the past, but they also have the potential for good. Granolah admits that revenge is not the answer and that he needs to find a new purpose in life. The two warriors part ways, each with a newfound respect for the other.

Apologies to Beerus

Vegeta expresses his apologies to Beerus for not being able to revert to his former self and acknowledging that the power of a God of Destruction is beyond his scope. Granolah is about to launch his attack, but Monaito's sudden appearance distracts him, giving Goku the opportunity to knock him down and dissipate the attack.

Bardock's Revelation

Monaito explains Granolah's story, revealing that Bardock is responsible for him being alive today. Vegeta then tells Goku that Bardock is his father.

Gas Appears

Gas appears and has now become the new strongest being in the universe, thanks to Elec summoning Toronbo. Gas quickly takes down Granolah, and Goku takes over, telling Vegeta to hurry and find the Senzu Bean in his armor.

Vegeta's Choice

Vegeta finds the bean but instead gives it to Granolah, telling him to settle his own grudge with his own strength. When Granolah rejoins the fight with Gas, Vegeta watches from below along with Goku.

Vegeta's Defeat

Granolah appears to defeat Gas using his superior skill set. However, Elec shows up and removes Gas' necklace, unleashing his instincts and giving him access to far greater power than before. During his rampage, he quickly takes down Granolah before savagely kicking Vegeta and taking him down.

Burden of Pride

An injured Vegeta eventually gets back up and gives his remaining energy to Goku, as he is the only one left capable of fighting. After Goku manages to evade Gas on another world, he returns to Cereal, where Vegeta and the others take shelter in Monaito's home. They hear a transmission from Bardock's scouter during his battle against Gas in the past, and Vegeta realizes that he has lost sight of the burden of his peoples' pride that he placed on himself so long ago, focusing too much on his need to atone for his own past sins.

The Saiyans Unite

When Gas returns to Cereal, the Saiyans emerge with newfound resolve to fight together. They transform into their Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego forms and attack Gas. Vegeta launches a sphere of Destruction energy at Gas, but he begins to push it back. Goku tries to help Vegeta, but realizing the futility of the struggle, Vegeta leaves Goku to barely hold it back himself as Vegeta attacks Gas directly.

Vegeta's Sacrifice

Gas becomes confused by Vegeta's increased strength despite the extensive damage to his body. Vegeta burns himself out attacking Gas, collapsing unconscious in his base form. Gas continues his assault, and Goku attempts to step in, but Vegeta hastily tells him to back off and improve his Ultra Instinct state quickly. As both Vegeta and Gas tire, Gas unleashes another deadly assault that puts Vegeta down, stating that he will not get up again.

Granolah's Help

Vegeta stands up and makes a beeline for Gas, who urgently puts up his guard to defend himself. Upon opening his eyes, he sees that Vegeta has dropped back to base form as he collapses unconscious from burning himself out. Granolah enters the battle and begins charging up a finishing attack. Vegeta is able to help hold off Gas long enough for Granolah to unleash his attack. Gas falls to the ground seemingly defeated but not dead and Granolah tells his siblings to take him away and never return to Planet Cereal again before apologizing to Goku and Vegeta for all that he has done.

Frieza's Arrival

Frieza arrives and kills Gas and Elec with ease before turning his attention to Goku and Vegeta. The pair demand to know how he was able to defeat Gas, despite his status as the strongest in the universe. Frieza remarks it may be due to him being in another dimension, confusing the Saiyans. Goku and Vegeta are speechless at this news, as Frieza transforms into a new form, deeming it Black Frieza.

Whis' Favor

Whis appears and restores Monaito as a onetime special favor for Goku. Whis asks Goku and Vegeta to leave with him straight away as Beerus is unable to figure out how to make instant yakisoba. Goku asks Granolah if he would like to join them for training though he refuses, instead wanting to find the Dragon Balls to fix the damage on Cereal that he had caused. Vegeta hands him the Dragon Radar just before they take their leave.

Vegeta's Stand Against Super 17 (Super 17 Saga)

After the 31st World Martial Arts Tournament, Vegeta challenges Goku to another fight but is left disappointed when Goku becomes too hungry to continue. However, their peace is interrupted when a rift between Hell and Earth opens up, bringing back many dead villains. Vegeta kills Nappa once again after the latter ignored his warning to run away.

Vegeta then battles a newer version of Android 17 and easily dominates him in base form. With Goku trapped in Hell and forced to fight Frieza and Super Perfect Cell, Vegeta declares himself as the Earth's protector in Goku's absence and resolves to win the battle against Super 17, the fusion of Android 17 and his clone from Hell.

Vegeta uses his new technique, the Final Shine Attack, to try and defeat Super 17 but fails, as the android simply absorbs the attack. Due to his injuries, Vegeta falls unconscious.

The Power of Vegeta: A Saiyan Warrior's Evolution

A Prodigy Among Saiyans

Vegeta's immense power was evident from a young age, with King Vegeta boasting about his son's unprecedented strength and capacity among the Saiyan race. Despite growing up with no formal combat training, Vegeta developed his fighting style purely through self-teaching, showcasing his prodigious talents. He surpassed his father, the previously strongest Saiyan of his time, while still a child.

Battles and Power Surges

Throughout Vegeta's journey, his power continued to grow at an exponential rate. His arrival on Earth as an adult saw his power level reach 18,000, and it took Goku using the Kaio-ken at three times his power to defeat Vegeta. Transforming into a Great Ape, Vegeta battled Earth's defenders even when badly injured and reverted to his base form. Vegeta's Galick Gun had enough power to ravage the entire surface of the Earth.

Continuous Growth and Development

After being defeated and healing, Vegeta's power rose to 24,000 thanks to the Saiyan Power. He defeated the transformed Zarbon through trickery and caused some minor damage to Recoome, putting his power level just under 30,000. After healing from his battle against Recoome, Vegeta showed a significant increase in power and easily outmatched Jeice and Captain Ginyu, fighting on par with the full power of Frieza's first form, putting Vegeta's power at around 530,000. Healing from Krillin's blast, Vegeta's power level shot up once more, becoming able to perceive Frieza's movements in his true form but ultimately proved no match for the tyrant. After being revived from death, Vegeta found that his power had increased greatly.

A Strong and Recognized Warrior

Vegeta is recognized as one of the most powerful mortal warriors in Universe 7, sometimes even regarded as the second most powerful among them, making him one of the strongest fighters of the multiverse as a whole. His incredible power and resilience have allowed him to face and defeat some of the most fearsome enemies in the Dragon Ball franchise. From a young age to his most recent battles, Vegeta's power has continuously grown and evolved, making him a force to be reckoned with.

Early Power and Combat Experience

Vegeta, the former prince of the Saiyan race and one of the few full-blooded Saiyan warriors in Dragon Ball Z, was recognized as an extremely powerful warrior and one of the strongest fighters of the multiverse as a whole. From a young age, Vegeta showed tremendous power, surpassing all previous records in Saiyan attributes and capacities. He was also noted to have even surpassed his father, the previously strongest Saiyan of his time, while still a child. Upon his arrival on Earth as an adult, his power level was around 18,000. Despite being badly battle-worn from Goku's various attacks, Vegeta showed remarkable resilience, able to continue fighting against the Earth's defenders.

Training under Extreme Conditions

In preparation for the arrival of the Androids, Vegeta trained under 450 times Earth's gravity, obtaining the Super Saiyan transformation and becoming able to effortlessly outclass Android 19 and 20. Vegeta continued to train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, becoming able to subdue Cell in his Semi-Perfect state with his Super Saiyan Second Grade form. He chose to train again in the Time Chamber after being soundly defeated by Perfect Cell, expressing confidence in his ability to defeat Cell. Vegeta trained for the next seven years, eventually reaching 500 times gravity. In Dragon Ball Super, Vegeta's training in the gravity chamber reached a point where he was no longer affected by the chamber's max gravity setting.

Power Progression and Battles

Throughout his training, Vegeta's power continued to increase. Piccolo noted that Vegeta may have surpassed Goku in power. According to Kami, Vegeta's power surpassed Future Trunks', as he lasted far longer against Android 18 than Trunks himself. Later, Vegeta lets himself get possessed by Babidi to receive Babidi's magic and catch up to Goku. In this state, combined with Super Saiyan 2, Vegeta was able to fight on par with Goku's Super Saiyan 2 might. Vegeta's power also eclipsed Gohan's against Super Perfect Cell, but he proved to be no match against Kid Buu, only able to hold him off for about a minute. However, his sheer tenacity and willpower allowed him to take several brutal beatings and continue fighting, something which shocked and even briefly scared the psychotic Majin.

Surpassing Goku and Super Saiyan Blue

After training on Beerus' Planet with Whis for six months, Vegeta's strength further increased, and both Goku and Vegeta unlocked the Super Saiyan Blue form. As a Super Saiyan Blue, Vegeta easily defeated a tired Golden Frieza. Vegeta also faced off against Beerus and, after undergoing a rage boost, was able to get several hits on him, something that Super Saiyan 3 Goku, Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks, and even Ultimate Gohan couldn't do. Beerus then claimed that he hadn't needed to use 10% of his power in such a long time. Goku admitted that Vegeta may have surpassed him after their training.

Vegeta in the Tournament of Destroyers

During the Tournament of Destroyers, Vegeta showcased his immense power by defeating several opponents. As a Super Saiyan, he defeated a weakened Final Form Frost with one punch, then defeated Magetta by unknowingly exploiting his weakness. Later, Vegeta defeated Cabba, who was in his Super Saiyan form, with just one punch in his Super Saiyan Blue form. However, Vegeta was dominated by Hit, who had a unique ability called Time-Skip that Vegeta was not aware of.

Vegeta Faces Goku Black with his Insane Power

In the anime, Vegeta faced the mysterious Goku Black, where his Super Saiyan Blue form proved powerful enough to overwhelm him in base form. Even when Black transformed into Super Saiyan Rosé, Vegeta was able to fight on par with him, but was eventually caught off-guard and stabbed by Black's God Split Cut. After healing and training for six months in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Vegeta's power had increased tremendously, as he was able to destroy the Time Chamber. In their rematch, Vegeta's boost in power overwhelmed Goku Black.

Vegeta in the Tournament of Power

In the Tournament of Power, Vegeta proved to be a valuable asset to his team. He eliminated many fighters, and Top, a God of Destruction candidate, declared him to be Universe 7's second-best warrior. As a Super Saiyan Blue, Vegeta was able to clash with Top and even pressure him with his relentless assault. Against Jiren, Vegeta managed to land a punch on him, and his Final Flash attack managed to make Jiren block, despite causing no damage. Vegeta even managed to break his self-limiting shell and achieve a transformation beyond Super Saiyan Blue, where he and Goku were able to fight on par with Jiren.

Vegeta's Perfected Super Saiyan Blue Form

In the manga, Vegeta was able to catch Dyspo off guard with his Perfected Super Saiyan Blue form and easily knocked him aside. Later on, he achieved a heightened state of Perfected Super Saiyan Blue, which allowed him to pressure Jiren more than anyone else during the Tournament of Power. Even Jiren himself acknowledged Vegeta's raw might, along with Goku's. Together, their combined Kamehameha/Gamma Burst Flash attack was so powerful that it warped the entire Null Realm, causing everyone to brace themselves. Ultimately, Vegeta's Final Explosion attack knocked out Destroyer Form Top and earned him Jiren's respect.

Vegeta's Power in Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga

Vegeta, one of the last four Saiyans left in the world, displayed his immense power in the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga. He noted that he was fast enough in his base form to fly from Capsule Corporation to Satan City in five seconds. However, against the infamously powerful wizard Moro, Vegeta was initially overwhelmed by his dark magic, even up to Super Saiyan 2. But Vegeta quickly overcame the unseen powers of Moro with Super Saiyan God. As Moro began using his power to manipulate the very nature of New Namek, Vegeta was pressured into using Super Saiyan God SS Evolved, where he easily broke through Moro's defenses to beat him down. However, convinced Moro was defeated, Vegeta powered down, which let Moro absorb the bulk of his energy and easily defeat Vegeta.

Vegeta's Spirit Control Training

After completing the basic training of Spirit Control under Pybara, Vegeta's power went through a massive boost. In battle against Moro's empowered men, Vegeta exhibited tremendous raw power, able to calmly swat away a giant building thrown at him with a single hand and likewise effortlessly defeated the foes in base form. Ultimately, with his newfound access to training, it also boosted his ability to detect ki signatures, even from across the universe. After a few failed attempts, he managed to perform Instant Transmission to return to Earth.

Vegeta's Battle Against Granolah

Later, Vegeta faced Granolah, whose power was augmented by Toronbo to become the most powerful mortal in Universe 7. While his Super Saiyan God SS Evolved might was easily overpowered initially by Granolah, Vegeta's superior battle instincts and experience allowed him to endure the fight, gradually improving against the foe to hold his own partly due to his Saiyan Power. Eventually, Vegeta achieved Ultra Ego, which noticeably shocked Granolah and pushed him back. However, Granolah's Pure Progress allowed his skill and power to grow even faster than Vegeta, overwhelming the Saiyan until his Ultra Ego couldn't keep up.

Vegeta's Fight Against Gas

Once he was healed by Monaito, Vegeta retook his Ultra Ego state to fight Gas, the new most powerful mortal in Universe 7. Fighting alongside Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku, their teamwork and coordination allowed them to hold their own against Gas, despite Gas being stronger than them. Going on to face Gas one-on-one, Vegeta's Ultra Ego continued to grow stronger as he was beaten down, to the point that Vegeta managed to actually become a threat to Gas.

Vegeta's Continuous Growth

Vegeta's power evolution has been continuous throughout the Dragon Ball Super series. He has faced numerous enemies and defeated them with his ever-growing strength, such as Beerus, the god of destruction who defeated him easily before, and Granolah, who was considered the most powerful mortal in Universe 7. Vegeta's training and determination have made him one of the strongest warriors in the series, and he continues to push his limits and improve his power.

Vegeta's Superiority Over Other Saiyans

In Dragon Ball GT, Vegeta's power struggle with Goku continues as the latter gains the Super Saiyan 4 form while Vegeta remains in the Super Saiyan 2 form. During the Baby Saga, Goten remarks that Vegeta is the strongest Saiyan on Earth. Baby notes that possessing Vegeta's body would allow him to surpass even Trunks and Goku, acknowledging Vegeta as the mightiest body in the universe, and the perfect one for him to defeat Goku.

Vegeta's Belief in His Power

Vegeta believes that he can defeat Goku while they are both in their Super Saiyan forms during the 31st World Martial Arts Tournament. However, in the Super 17 Saga, Vegeta is only able to hold his own against Super 17 for a short time, and the android is toying with him. Vegeta believes that the only difference between him and Goku is the Super Saiyan 4 form, which he does not have access to.

Vegeta's Temporary Gain of Super Saiyan 4

During the Shadow Dragon Saga, Vegeta manages to temporarily gain the Super Saiyan 4 form, allowing him to battle Omega Shenron alongside Goku. However, even as Super Saiyan 4, Vegeta is outmatched by the powered-up Nuova Shenron in a short bout.

Vegeta's Most Powerful Techniques and Abilities in Dragon Ball

Vegeta, the former prince of the Saiyan race, is one of the most powerful warriors in the Dragon Ball franchise. As one of the few full-blooded Saiyan warriors, he has developed various signature techniques and abilities throughout the series. Here are some of his most powerful techniques:

  • Galick Gun: Vegeta's signature technique, a high-powered energy wave that he can fire from his palms. It's a purple-colored blast that can be upgraded to a more powerful version.
  • Lucora Gun: A technique where Vegeta rapidly fires blasts from both hands to create a massive barrage of ki blasts, a technique so commonly used that Goku refers to it as "Vegeta's technique."
  • Big Bang Attack: A high-powered energy ball fired from Vegeta's hand at a 90-degree angle.
  • Final Flash: An upgraded version of Vegeta's old Final Crash attack, it's a technique that can damage foes stronger than he is. When charged to the maximum, it can overwhelm or seriously harm even the strongest of foes.
  • Final Impact (Atomic Flash): A large beam fired from Vegeta's index finger, middle finger, and thumb. It's a highly focused and speedy beam that can pierce through its target.
  • Gamma Burst Flash: Vegeta's ultimate technique in the Dragon Ball Super manga, it's a last resort that can blow apart multiple enemies stronger than Vegeta.
  • Spirit Control: After learning this ability on the Planet Yardrat, Vegeta gains the ability to use Forced Spirit Fission and Instant Transmission, abilities that allow him to remove the energy from an opponent or travel to any location in the universe instantly.
  • Hakai: The ability to destroy anything from existence, Vegeta learns this technique with guidance from Beerus. He primarily uses it to destroy inanimate objects, releasing a huge quantity of energy upon their destruction.
  • Ultra Ego: A transformation learned from Beerus that allows Vegeta to get stronger as his fighting spirit and damage increase.
  • Final Shine Attack: A technique developed by Vegeta in Dragon Ball GT, it's a green energy wave charged in one hand and fired at the foe. In Super Saiyan 4 state, Vegeta can utilize it similar to the Final Flash.

Vegeta's abilities and techniques are a testament to his incredible strength and power as one of the most powerful warriors in the Dragon Ball franchise.

The Popularity and Criticisms of Vegeta in Dragon Ball: A Review

Vegeta, an incredibly strong elite Saiyan warrior and one of the few full-blooded Saiyan warriors in Dragon Ball Z, has been a central character in the Dragon Ball franchise. He was one of the last four Saiyans left in the world, along with Raditz, and the former prince of the Saiyan race who once inhabited Planet Vegeta. Vegeta has generally received praise by various reviewers from manga, anime, and other media.

Theron Martin from Anime News Network praised Vegeta's pride as being partially responsible for the success of the series. He noted Vegeta's overcoming his pride to help defeat Cell as the best scene from the fight against said antagonist due to how it creates the climax of the scene. Todd Douglass Jr. from DVD Talk commented on Vegeta's skills and anger, noting them to be a good combination for any fight even though it is a one-sided battle due to how powerful he is. Vegeta's popularity is evident, placing fourth in the 1993 Dragon Ball character popularity poll voted on by Weekly Shōnen Jump readers and moving up to second in the 1995 one. In 2004, fans of the series voted him the second most popular character for a poll in the book Dragon Ball Forever.

However, there have also been multiple criticisms of his relationship with Bulma, with some writers finding it forced. Briana Lawerence listed Vegeta 9th in the article 10 Male Headaches of Anime, criticizing his personality and his repeated desire to surpass Goku's power. Both Goku and Vegeta were also criticized for being too overpowered in Dragon Ball Super to the point they steal the series' spotlight to the supporting cast while their strategies either lack complexity or create a plothole.

Overall, Vegeta remains a popular character in the Dragon Ball franchise, with his pride and determination to surpass his limits being among his most admirable qualities, despite some criticisms of his character and relationships.
